“Hand Movie, In Water,” 2015, digital video projection, 2:40 minute loop.
“Hand Movie, In Water” explores the movement of a human hand underwater. The hand interacts with a mirrored version of itself–its digital double. This piece relates Baudrillard’s theories of hyper-reality and the impossible exchange to Benveniste’s “memory of water”.
“When the world, or reality, finds its artificial equivalent in the virtual, it becomes useless.” -Baudrillard
