Light Observer, 2
2015
digital video projection, 3:45 minute loop
“Light Observer, 2” explores the movement of water and light through the lens of a camera.
Such light phenomenons are only possible when three elements come into play: the sun, the moisture in the air, and the human observer.
This triangular scenario stirs philosophical questions into the nature of color and optics.
Influenced by Alan Watts, I set out to capture the “rainbow” effect. However, in the process of capturing said effect, another element was added into the mix–the camera. The camera lens introduced new visual effects, notably lens flares and rainbows, into the vocabulary of the human eye.
